embodied traces: the feminine corporeal, first iteration
First Site Gallery 3 –13 October 2017
This exhibition is an exploration of femininity and the female body, using installation and video. The work seeks to extend notions of the feminine and the female body beyond normative perceptions and limited cultural constructions. In this exhibition, opposing states of embodiment overlap and interact, dissolve and merge into each other, collapsing concrete binaries into fleeting moments. The sound aspect of the work abstracts these notions through the performative and bodily act of speech, offering alternative ways to experience the work in and through time.
This exhibition is part of an ongoing Honours creative research project, which is exploring the experience of female subjectivity and inherent politics of this position through working with installation, performance and video.
