This work was a site responsive installation that took place in the original caretaker’s residence of the Collingwood Technical College. Incorporating a philosophical text by feminist academic Luce Irigaray as a starting point, the work attempted to extend the boundaries of memory and personal space as emotionally scarred and ‘pregnant’ with the notion of the feminine. A main aim of the work was to bring out the unspoken but deeply felt currents of unused and abandoned space, and the role of nostalgia in rebuilding or holding onto claustrophobic or unhealthy social structures. This was informed by my previous research projects exploring feminist genealogies through arts practice.

The work also responded physically to the aged and neglected qualities of the space. This was especially explored in subtle gestures that to an unwatchful observer would remain unnoticed, such as text written into the floor and edges of windows.
